Desktop Tower Defense: I Warned You

By Tom Daymont

I have not completed a posting in sometime now, and as much as I would like to say it’s because I am really busy between work, school and a very (in)active social life, this is simply not the case. My lack of posts in these past couple weeks is a direct result of a game called Desktop Tower Defense.

This highly addictive flash-based game (and it’s free!) is quite simple. Bad guys,or “creeps” come at you in a very predictable way. You build defenses that take them out. Each enemy you kill earns you gold which you can use to upgrade towers or build more structures. If any get through, you lose a life.

You must find a balance between fast-firing towers and more powerful (but slower) pieces to keep your desktop free and clear. A good strategy is to funnel enemies around the screen in a twisted path, giving your towers more time to pelt them with sniper bullets, missiles, and other assorted weaponry.

The greatest thing about this game is it can easily run in the background (with constant monitoring of course). Pause it at anytime or build a maze of cannons and hope you survive the waves of creeps.

This game is highly addictive, and I have still yet to conquer it on Normal mode. Please, if anyone is looking to get hooked on something that’s street legal follow the link, and post any tips.

The dark ones always screw me.

that sounds like a great way to waste time. at my school all the game sites are blocked. but with the help or my students, we find our way around the loopholes to find one of the greatest time waisters ever. you get this catapult that has santa all loaded up on it. the game starts by two elves pushing the catapult as fast as they can. what you have to do is tell them when to release him. i have the class record with a unbelievable throw of 225.8 meters.
i dont know what its called or how to get to it, but if you ever find it, have fun.

I played a good solid 3 hours, I can't get past 35 on medium. Those damn flying creeps get me everytime.

I finally beat it, for me the key is to only fully upgrade about 8 weapons. like 2 fully upgraded squirts 2 fully upgraded darts and 2 flying weapons. keep the flying ones in the middle and try to funnel all the creeps to the same line. and use the one that stuns them

Those damn flying things bend me over the pool table after a while. Daymoster, do you know of a point to those ink spraying towers? cuz right now I can't find one.

Daymonster said...

no, i never use them... the ink ones suck (in my opinion).

ugh, have you guys tried playing 10,000 gold mode? in theory, it's supposed to be fun, due to the fact that its listed in the not having enough fun? menu. but...

A) once you get to level 80, it's simply impossible

B) it takes like 2 hours to get to that point

explain to me how that is fun? if it was 15,000 gold mode, then it would be alot more fun. but 10,000 is impossible.

haha, yeah, I have gotten to level 81 , the farthest I know anyone getting is 84. It is fun at first when you anhilate everything, that is why I rush the first 50 or so creeps 10 at a time.

I am trying to beat 84 as we speak (or type)

at that point you either get wasted by the flying creeps or if you stack up enough missle defense, you get wasted by the ground. And as tough as they are at level 80, they are that much tougher at 90-100. without juggling, I just don't see how its possible.
