It's official. I am only 60% man.

By Daymonster

While I had been expecting it for sometime now, it is now official. I am not a true Man. Don't get me wrong, all the parts are there. But according to the manly people at Popular Mechanics Magazine, I am only 60% of what a real man should be. I am of course talking about their article "25 Skills Every Man Should Know." Of the Twenty-Five, I would feel confident on the first try doing about 15 of these tasks. (Confident being the key word, some of these I could probably figure it out in an afternoon.)

Here is the list:
1. Patch a radiator hose
2. Protect your computer
3. Rescue a boater who has capsized
4. Frame a wall
5. Retouch digital photos
6. Back up a trailer
7. Build a campfire
8. Fix a dead outlet
9. Navigate with a map and compass
10. Use a torque wrench
11. Sharpen a knife
12. Perform CPR
13. Fillet a fish
14. Maneuver a car out of a skid
15. Get a car unstuck
16. Back up data
17. Paint a room
18. Mix concrete
19. Clean a bolt-action rifle
20. Change oil and filter
21. Hook up an HDTV
22. Bleed brakes
23. Paddle a canoe
24. Fix a bike flat
25. Extend your wireless network

I feel I could do numbers, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, 24, and 25. Don' t bother checking, it is essentially all of the electronic ones, a couple of the automotive ones and a few of the outdoorsy ones.

Any thoughts on this list? Did they miss anything everyman should be able to do? Maybe, how to update a blog every once-in-a-while?

I can do 9 things on that list. I am not considered a man whatsoever by their standards, and couldn't poossibly be happier with that.

Assuming that mixing concrete requires no more than adding water to the dry mixture, then I can comfortably do 14 of the tasks, on a good day 17 maybe. I think thats enough. Better than wuters anyway, he cant even paddle a canoe.

AH! picture of the day: Haas's chest hair looks like an asterisk. Has he been using HGH?

I know bres. It's a shame that I don't wear flannel or worship the vikings. It's a shame I don't get pissed off when I'm drunk and get in heated arguments about why Ford sucks and Chevy rules. It's a shame that I don't Tivo Best Damn Sports Show Period. Poor me.

I can maybe do 12 or 13 of these and I blame my city upbringing. Living in the middle of nowhere now I wish I knew how do more of these things. When you live in a small town in ND and you have to call the tire shop to come and fix your flat tire on main street people start to talk.

haha daymont you are 100% man. I worked with you on grounds crew and if any of those tasks would have came up we would find a way to do it.(remember our trailer obstacle course) Wooters you are also 100% man. You are a rockstar and in my book that makes you the ultimate man. Bres is also a man. Bres is my best competition when it comes to Tiger Woods golf on playstation and foosball. Those two things alone make you a man, but also you can waterski. Foss is a man because he can pitch a baseball like no other and then throw down 27 beers in celebration. Haas is 100% man, look at the picture of the day that says enough. That quiz is stupid, we should come up with our own list of things that make you a man. I think not being an idiot should also be included in what makes a man....

hahahahaha. I think Huddys the man because following an inning-ending strikeout he can throw a baseball through an entire wooden-built overlook.

if I can do about 12-13 on the list, and I am not a man, what does that mean? Does that mean I am not a woman, am just a really awesome woman, or that I am unnecessarily manly?

But, I should tell you I'll be judging all of my future potential boyfriends by this list and this list alone.

I can easily do 16 of these things and could with not much offort figure out, dare I say it? All of them. Does that make me the resident man on the AH staff?

I think we all knew that even prior to this survery tone.

i'm calling shenanigans on number 15.

i cant get a car unstuck from certain situations, but other, it's a breeze.

nothing to do with manliness. its more about luck and car type and circumstance and how many dudes are around to push while you drive.
