and the bumper stickers, oh the bumper stickers. I saw this one truck with one that said simply "GO HOME TOWEL HEADS" I wanted to fight that guy.
Now I know I shouldn't judge a whole town by one bumper sticker, but I'm going to anyway.

we may have already touched on this subject, but we probably should remind ourselves of the disgustingness of faribault.
the only good thing about faribault is the A&W (and that is a stretch). everything else is just gross.
I do enjoy A&W restaurants, but i've only been to the one is faribo once and it was a very long time ago.
What doesn A&W stand for?
Faribo sucks.
They used to have a golden corall a long time ago. That was a smaller, but much better tasting version of old country buffet. Pizza Hut is all they have left.
Faribault sucks.

After living the majority of my life technically in the 55021 zip code. I can whole heartedly attest to how much it does indeed suck. Besideds the A&W, which I might add is the worst such establishment I have ever been too, there is only one saving grace to the entire town. There is a pretty awesome Pizza joint by the name Basilleo's. If you've never been I reccomend checking it out, but make sur you hold your breath on the drive there. And, The golden corrall was the best serve yourself resteraunt I've ever been too, but Faribo being the bone-heads they are let it go out of business.
You guys are tough on Faribault. It's just a little river town, not much different from Zumbrota or Mason City, IA or Frankfort, IN or any of a thousand small-to-middlesized towns in the midwest. Not much going for it, true. But the new art center is nice and shows that some people have a little pride and creativity. River Bend Nature Center is cool. Donahue's greenhouse is very nice if you're into plants and gardening and such. The hockey arena is way nicer than Northfield's old dump. The art deco courthouse is unique in this part of the country.
And so forth.

I enjoy your enthusiasm for our stinky southwestern neighbor, but while you can list about a half-dozen great things about Faribault, I could write a whole anthology about what is great about Nfld.
And, that piece of shit hockey arena has charm.
P.S. Mason City IA also smells.

I couldn't list half a dozen good things. I could list four. That's it. I have exhasuted the list.
Next summer, MNDoT is going to close a big stretch of Hwy 3 between Faribault and Northfield. I wonder if anyone will notice.
Well with half the town of Northfield on heroine, us natives shouldn't be talking too much smack at this point in time.
Jim: Most of the bloggers at Alright Hamilton! grew up in Northfield, and it's like a Florida State/Florida hatred between the two towns.
But considering this is the second Faribault bashing piece in this blog, we should probably put an end to it with this latest article.

i have visited these places that you speak of jim. as a matter of fact, i played a large role in the construction of the river bend nature center, and i have purchased some lovely plants from donahue's greenhouse.
on the other hand, i completely disagree with your take on the ice-arena. the northfield ice arena has the aesthetics that cannot be matched by that tin box they have in faribault (especially that dented wall that backs the visitors stands. (i have no idea how those dents got there;))). I have spoken with many players who have visited the unfriendly confides of our arena, and they say it is the worst place to play. not because of the ice, or the lockerooms, but because of the fans and how close they are to the ice. I love that place.
If we were the capital of rice county, as we should be, think of the things we would have done with the courthouse.
Although I've eaten at the golden corrall more than any other Faribault establishment, I've got to admit that they shut that place down for a reason. It was amazingly dirty, and unkempt. They should also shut down the Southern China Cafe. what a dump. they do have great egg roles going for them though.
we all know that faribault sucks, so lets just leave it at that.
