think about how awesome 2010 is gonna be. Gomez will be awesome, Mauer will be Mauer, Morneau will hit 30 bombs, Young will be an MVP candidate, and Liriano and Guerra are going to be unstoppable.
someone took thier optimism pills this morning.
I've been saying we should trade Johan for a bunch of prospects since this past summer. Either this or give the Red Sox the best rotation in baseball for the next 6 years.
And why is everyone so down on Gomez? keep in mind he started last season in single A.
why are we upset that the ebst prospect we got was in double A last year? hmmm...
Yeah monster. Mr. Cy Young seems to deserves more.
Guerra is gonna be tearing it up in 2 years. This is how the Twins work. Pohlad isn't gonna spend enough money to bring in both good free agents and resign the biggest, so we needed to cash in to get good prospects. During this 5 year run, the Twins' biggest problem was lack of hitting. In 2010 we're gonna have Young, Mauer, Morneau, Gomez and Cuddyer in their primes. If we trade Nathan (which I'm expecting) we should also get a good prospect to fill our needs at either 3rd, SS, or 2nd to help another need.
Our rotation will be
Liriano
Baker
Guerra
Slowey
Blackburn/4 other good prospects.
That's going to be as solid of a team that we've had since 91.

And Santana turned down 20 mil a year. He's expected to get 25 mil a year with the Mets. Even if we resigned him, that would be 1/3 of the entire payroll. Along with giving Morneau and Cuddyer the big extensions they just got, that wouldn't leave enough money to make this team competitive enough to win a world series.
Is this the best possible deal we could've got? Probably not, but I don't despise this move at all.
who knows if we were going to get any of the players named from the yanks or sox, (elsbury, lestor, huges,milky) could have been peopel just throwing things out there. i trust the twins, they did what was best for the twins, mr smith, didnt do this by himself, he's not to blame, or bless, its the entire org.
i dont mind what they've done here. go twins
